Gudo Merlot Ticino DOC is a red wine, produced by our Delea winery from slightly more than 90% Merlot grapes and Cabernet Franc grapes. The grapes, which are cultivated in the area of Gudo, near the Fattoria Amorosa, in canton Ticino, are destemmed, crushed and fermented for about 10-12 days in temperature-controlled GIMAR steel vats. Then the wine is left to age for 12 months in stainless steel tanks, where, after malolactic fermentation, it completes its maturation.
To the eye it presents a ruby red colour with violet reflections.
On tasting, the nose has a fresh acidity and an intense and persistent aroma of red berry fruit with hints of black pepper. Its flavour is dry, full of character, persistent, fine and reminiscent of the olfactory perceptions. It is distinguished by its roundness and softness, which are best expressed by serving the wine at 16-18 °C, accompanying mature cheeses or meat dishes. It is best enjoyed young and has a longevity of about 5/6 years.
