Grapes: Merlot
Carato Riserva is produced with the best selection of Merlot stumps that are over 40 years old. The grapes are cultivated in the vineyards located on the hills of the area of Locarno, where they are exposed to lots of sun during the day, and to a fresh breeze during the night, which are the ideal conditions for a perfect maturation.
Carato Riserva rests for about two years in new French oak barrels, which in the Italian language, are called ‘Carati’. Wine with a great structure that fully reflects the territory where it was generated. The character is very intense, spicy and elegant, with very fine aromatic tones.
The colour is an intense ruby red with purple reflexes. The taste is deep and sweet: initially cassis and blackberry flavours emerge and then, leather, clear tobacco, eucalyptus, tea leaves and balsamic scents emerge. In the mouth it is full, bold, voluminous, long and persistent, and at the same time elegant and spicy with a great structure. Suitable for ageing.
Great with refined meat cuts, fillets, pigeon, char grilled ribs and game.
