Legend has it that a Dominican friar, a certain Francisco de Carabantes, introduced the vine to Chile in the mid-16th century. The name of this wine is a tribute to the memory of Carabantes.

The Syrah grape variety used is unique, with its aromas of violets, rosemary and blueberries. The structure is elegant and made to mature at least a decade in the bottle.
