Origin: According to literature, the Chardonnay comes from the mountains of Lebanon and is said to have been brought to France by crusaders. The Roman-Catholic orders of the Benedictines and Cistercians spread the Chardonnay throughout Europe. The name "Chardonnay" (translated: place full of thistles) comes from a later period and probably from a place of the same name in Burgundy. The Rhone valley spread northwards into Burgundy and Valais.
Vinification: Traditional fermentation without biological acid degradation, in accordance with AOC regulations and the quality requirements of the Albert Mathier & Söhne wine family.

Drinking temperature: 16 - 18 °C
Food: This wine goes well with aperitifs, fish and desserts.
