The best 100 Swiss wines. Many consider this as a highly debatable statement as they deem it necessary to taste every single wine in the country without any exclusion. Not too easy, is it?
This is a ranking that was made by the celebrated magazine Schweizerische Weinzeitung after a whole year of wine tasting. The judgements are based on the following criteria.
“At the end of each year, after having tasted all the best Swiss wine, we will list them in the top 100 of the classify. We have the courage to try to do this again. We know our ranking will contain lots of material that will be discussed. After tasting, evaluating and classifying the wine, you can never develop an objective perspective, but rather only a snapshot, often taken right in the middle of the development of the wine. In order to compile a list like this one, it is necessary to employ lots of care, experience and competence. All this was incorporated in the present classify. In addition, it presents the very essence of many long wine tasting sessions carried out by the staff of the SWISS WEINZEITUNG, that studied the best creations (as well as the less considered) of wine makers from Vallis, Ticino, Graubunden, Vaud, Argau and Thurgau.
In order to decide which wine would enter the classify, some wine tasting sessions were carried out. Never before, were there so many different wines that were listed with a score of 18 points; and even the wine listed at the 100th position, obtained 18 points out of a maximum of 20.”
On our behalf we are proud that three of our wines are listed in this special classify. It means that the quality of our wine is recognised by expert wine tasters that are committed to valorise and to enhance our National wine culture on a yearly basis. The ranking may well be subjective but the high scores confirm the excellent level that has been reached by Swiss wine. Congratulations!
